PACE 501 G6 FTA troubles HELP!!!

I have problems receiving FTA channels with PACE 501 G6 receiver. C**+ package works fine and I'm able to watch some other FTA channels. However the number of FTA channels recieved is getting smaller each week as some of the channels I was previously receiving (Fashion TV, Eurosport, ZDF etc.) are gone.<P>PACE finds the frequency, all the channels are loaded but some of them have no picture and no sound (for example: from 12,610 V packet I have just Video Italia, TV5 and Motors). From time to time short blink or a sound appears but disappears again. When I view the channels' teletext, the background sound is ok but when I switch back the sound is gone. The signal is quite strong, both coarse tune and fine tune are at least in the middle of the range.<P>Could you tell me whether I have to align the dish and/or change the LNB or it is a firmware problem? The current firmware is version 1.1, loader 2.5, software v1.3.06a MSB 20/10/97.<BR>Thanks in advance.

What I've heard is the hardware/software.<BR>The receiver is just not capable to receive certain videostreams just as the mentioned ZDF etc.etc. so I'm afraid that you have to take a look for another receiver.<P>suc6,<P>Zeeman.

Thanks for the reply. However the programs worked cca. 5 months ago and then disappeared, even without any package change (ZDF digital package). Isn't it puzzling?

Right now I received a reply from technical support at ***geen-reclame*** and I'm posting it to inform everyone interested.<P>"Many other outland providers are upgrading their systems. They use a newer type of compression (MPEG-stream) so that they can put more programs in their packages. The DVR501-G6 has got an old type of MPEG-decoder. This one can't decode<BR>that 'new' type of compression. This results in less watchable programs. There is nothing to change this, nor software nor hardware.<P>You have already the latest software-update. (v1.3.06a)"<P>So you were right Zeeman.<P>Long live the Pace !!!
