Hier nog even een testbericht (in de Engelse taal:<BR>-----------------------------------------<BR><B>Today it‘s not hard to find digital receivers with integrated hard drives for program recording. But up until now these receivers all had one disadvantage: during a recording it was possible to watch another previously recorded program at the same time, however not a program that is currently being broadcast. TOPFIELD has put an end to this problem by simply equipping their model TF4000PVR with two tuners.</B><P>The simple-looking front panel is anything but. Behind a flap are all the auxiliary controls needed for receiver programming should the remote control turn up missing. The two slots that accept CA modules for PayTV reception can also be found here. But these CAM slots also serve another function that for now is unique to TOPFIELD. If requested, TOPFIELD will provide a TFDM (Topfield Download Module). If there is no access to a PC, a software upgrade can easily be performed by simply plugging this module into one of the slots. The selected channel (up to 4000 TV and radio channels) is shown on a green display.<P>The first thing you notice when you look at the back panel are the four „F“ connectors, two IF inputs and two IF outputs. The two inputs can be used separately or looped-through. This makes it possible to record one program while at the same time watching a different program. Both Scart connectors provide video and audio to a TV and a VCR, but for those parts of the world that don‘t use Scart connectors, these signals are also available from a set of RCA jacks. And if you have a proper amplifier, you can also make use of the digital audio output (S/PDIF). External switches can be controlled via the programmable 0/12 volt output. The on-board modulator can handle all the different PAL standards. For NTSC parts of the world, a corresponding version is also available. The serial interface permits uploading of new software and this is made even easier with the easy-to-use Loader that the manufacturer provides. Even beginners should have no trouble with this. SatcoDX compatibility for downloading current transponder data is not yet available but is being worked on.<P>Everyday Use<BR>The first-time installation of this receiver is actually fun. Easy-to-understand step-by-step instructions make this job very easy. Whether it is LNB‘s that are being configured or a satellite that is being activated, the signal strength and quality are blended in near the bottom edge of the screen. Loaded with DiSEqC 1.0 and 1.2, the TF4000PVR can drive individual antennas, multifeed systems, SMATV and DiSEqC motors. The box comes already pre-programmed with 64 satellites in C- and Ku-band and even more can be added if needed. With its Autoscan, the TOPFIELD is at the top of its class. It managed to scan our 80-transponder test satellites in just four minutes! It can scan for FTA only, FTA and CAS or just for CAS. According to the manufacturer, this box can handle symbolrates from 1 to 45 Ms/sec. and our test with a number of SCPC signals at less than 2 Ms/sec. proved this to be true. For specialists there is also a manual scan and an „Advanced“ scan, with PID entry if desired. After a successful scan, the new video picture appears immediately as an insert in the OSD. Once the box is programmed, an „Edit“ menu provides the much-needed means to organize all the data. Unwanted programs can be deleted and the others can be rearranged in various different ways. Priority channels can end up in one of four „Favorites“ lists based on type (News, Music, Movies, etc.). A parental control is included and should make it impossible for the kids to see things they shouldn‘t. A sleep-timer is also built-in to turn the box off if you should fall asleep in front of the TV. If a channel is offered in more than one language, a push of a button on the remote control selects the correct one without having to open a separate menu. Teletext and subtitles are also supported.<P>The well-designed Electronic Program Guide (EPG) deserves high praise. It gives brief overviews to programs from various providers or more detailed information to individual programs. And if you find a program that you want to record, it can be selected here and the start/stop times are automatically carried over to the „RECORD“ menu.<P>The control functions for digital recording and replay on the remote control don‘t look that much different than those for an analog VCR. This makes the whole process extremely easy. A simple push of a button brings up the „Record“ menu and program recording can immediately begin via the „Quick“ function. The length of the recording can be set in advance. At the same time, the start and stop times of recordings can also be manually set and programs that were marked in the EPG for recording can be activated here. In another menu, all of the programs that have been recorded can be managed and can be individually accessed with the push of a button. The „Time Shift“ function is a nice feature to have. If you are waiting for an important telephone call yet you don‘t want to miss that interesting program you are watching, you simply push the proper button to temporarily interrupt the program when that call finally does come. The program is recorded at the point of the interruption. Once things have calmed down, the viewing of the program can be picked up right at the point of the interruption. The program simply comes to an end a few minutes later than it otherwise would have. Of course, there are also your standard functions like fast-forward, rewind and pause. <P>Compared to the other digital receivers with integrated hard drives that have been tested so far, the TF4000PVR ranks as one of the best. The simple operation of the receiver section and the digital recorder section is only one of its advantages. It also comes with a second tuner that allows recording of one program while watching another plus it also includes a digital audio output. Put all of this together and you end up with a receiver that has truly earned an overall grade of „very good“.

Nee dat weet ik helaas ook niet precies maar dat zal zo rond de NLG 1850,- zijn schat ik.<BR>Ik heb een beetje naar de duitse prijzen gekeken. Gaat inderdaad 1849 gulden kosten<BR>Er zit een bedrijf in Vlaardingen die de<BR>distributie gaat doen.<P>Geweldig apparaat. Heb de beta sofware voor<BR>Topfield getest. Stukken sneller als bv de<BR>Nokia .

Geinig apparaatje, als hij kan wat ik voor ogen heb, is die van mij.<BR>Tuner 1 : via diseqc switch aan schotel-1 voor bijv. Astra Hotbird videorecording.<BR>Tuner 2 : via disecq motor aan draaiende schotel voor het transponderhoppen.<BR>lijkt me geil als ie dat kan.
