Er zijn nogal wat verschillende variatie's van dit nummer. De originele tekst werd echter eind 19e eeuw geschreven,

naar aanleiding van een gebeurtenis op deze locatie.

Truus , die jongen ligt daar lekker te rusten , maar niet voor lang :

"Waltzing Matilda" is Australia's most widely known bush ballad. A country folk song, the song has been referred to as "the unofficial national anthem of Australia".^[1]

The title is Australian slang for travelling by foot with one's goods (waltzing, derived from the German auf der Walz) in a "Matilda" (bag) slung over one's back.^[

The original lyrics were written in 1895 by poet and nationalist Banjo Paterson. It was first published as sheet music in 1903. Extensive folklore surrounds the song and the process of its creation, to the extent that the song has its own museum, the Waltzing Matilda Centre in Winton, Queensland.^[3] In 2012, to remind Australians of the song's significance, Winton organised the inaugural Waltzing Matilda Day to be held on 6 April, the anniversary of its first performance

Gene, je zit niet fout hoor, het klopt helemaal

Je eerste link lijkt zo op het eerste gezicht wel anders, maar als je ver genoeg inzoomt, zie je volgens mij ook dezelfde afbeelding.

Knap en vooral, snel gevonden hoor.

Dan zal ik de rest van m'n hints maar weer in de shredder doen...

En ondertussen weet ik nu ook wat die " waltzing mathilda " eigenlijk betekent . Een mens leert altijd wat bij .
