BSkyB heeft de M7 group aangeklaagd voor het gebruik van de naam Skylink:

 

BSkyB is pursuing legal proceedings against the Luxembourg-based M7 Group for trademark infringement in relation to its subsidiary Skylink – a DTH satellite TV platform operating in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

advanced-television.com understands that Sky sees M7 Group’s use of the Skylink brand for its DTH pay-TV operation in Europe as an actionable infringement of BSkyB’s established SKY trade mark and misrepresentation that causes significant harm to Sky’s reputation, undermining the value of its brand.

The Skylink action follows a recent High Court ruling in England that Sky’s UK and Community trade marks for SKY were infringed by Microsoft’s ‘SkyDrive’ mark for cloud storage services.

“We regard any unauthorised use of the Sky name as an infringement of our established SKY brand. As such, we continue to pursue legal proceedings against the M7 Group in relation to its satellite pay-TV platform Skylink. We remain vigilant in protecting the SKY brand and will continue to take appropriate action against those companies that seek to use our trademarks without consent,” confirmed a BSkyB spokesman,
