TOPFIELD 5000 Eerste testberichten!!!

Yesterday the new PVR5000 finally arrived and here's a first short impression:

 

*) At the moment, the casing is the same as the one from the PVR4000 (front panel will be changed with the next hardware revision)

*) The new remote control is attached

*) The fundamental menu structure and the basic handling of the PVR4000 were adapted and logically enhanced

*) At first, the receivers OSD is almost the same as with the PVR4000, but if you take a closer look there are a lot of differences

-) the new osd is brighter, fresher and more colorful

-) the font size of the info bar was changed and now it’s easier to read it even from greater distances

-) pull down menus and status boxes were redesigned

-) the playback/record icon was changed and is looking really great now

-) the channel select and recorded services menu looks better organized and the colored function buttons got some new functions

*) the receiver is reacting very fast to remote control commands (especially when you’re scrolling through the menu or through the channel list)

*) the epg is reacting much faster than with the PVR4000

*) If you turn off the receiver while a recording is under progress, you have to confirm that you really want to turn off the receiver

*) It’s possible to record 2 services at the same time

*) It's even possible to record 2 services and playback 1 service at the same time

*) In the recorded services list, you can now easily see, if a recording is decrypted, partially scrambled or scrambled on the hard disk (green $=decrypted, green/yellow $=partially scrambled, yellow $=scrambled)

*) Premiere/ORF can be decrypted with an Alphacrypt module without any problems

*) If you connect the receiver via USB to your PC, the receiver is recognized by the PC, but at the moment there’s only a software upload tool available (more to come in the next month)

*) It’s not possible to use the old STB Manager or Setedit with the PVR5000 (at least I wasn’t able to transfer channels from or to the receiver)

*) In recorded services list, you can now even see the extended epg info of a recorded service (if the station provided epg data)

*) It’s now possible to change the name of a delayed recording when you program it

 

Summarizing I can say that the receiver in his basic functions works stabile and without any bigger or annoying problems, even though the current software is not the one, the receiver should be tested with. That was of course just a small overview, to test all the new functions of the receiver will take much longer.

 

Even voor alle duidelijkheid:

Er zijn 8 apparaten in Europa geleverd.

Daarvan zijn er 3 in Duitsland, 1 in Tsjechie (PeN) en een gebruiker TFNED. ik denk dus de NL importeur.

 

Verder nog geen info en ook geen beelden van de buitenkant. Er is maar 1 exemplaar tot de beschikki8ng gesteld aan Tele-Satellite voor een produktvoorstelling dus moeten we daarop wachten voor de eerste beelden komen hoe de 5000 er echt uit ziet.

Nee volgens mij niet. teminste daar heb ik nix over gelezen.

 

Dus dat wordt een lange usb kabel... of een andere oplossing

Netwerk aansluiting is volgens mij ook nooit sprake van geweest en die USB 2.0 aansluiting is sneller dan een ethernet aansluiting alleen ben je met je kabellengte zeer beperkt! En verder acht ik de kans klein dat je ook opgenomen programma's naar je computer kan copieeren, misschien komt er nog eens een gekraakte firmware uit die dit hackt!

Er bestaan USB extenders. Dan kun je via een UTP kabel bij je USB devices komen. Nadeel is dat ik ze alleen nog maar gevonden hem met USB 1.1 spcificaties.

Dat denk ik niet, omdat de testgebruiker in Tsjechie PeN is die het tooltje TFGET heeft geschreven. Het is zeker wel de bedoeling van Topfield om een verbinding te maken via de USB2.0 naar de opnames.

 

PIP gaat goed.

 

Vanaf afgelopen weekeinde zijn er 4 Topfield ontwikkelaars in Duitsland om daar feeds op te pakken en met betatesters te praten.

Ik zal er voorlopig toch geen een kopen, (ik heb net de 4000 gekocht), maar vind het wel jammer dat ze gekozen hebben voor de USB2 in plaats van de FireWire verbinding. Ik heb hier een Maxtor 5000XT staan, dat is een externe harddisk die via USB2 en FireWire op de PC kan worden aangesloten, maar FireWire is gewoon een stuk sneller dan USB2. Dat bleek ook al uit de test van PCM een paar maanden geleden.

 

Maar er zullen nog wel veel meer achtergronden spelen, denk maar aan de belasting die betaald moet worden voor videocamera's met een digitale input mogelijkheid.
